GE Healthcare

The Kohler Experiential Learning Center pulled together a custom program for our event, which consisted of 23 Senior Executives from GE Healthcare. With a little bit of "The Amazing Race", "Survivor" and "American Idol" woven through the program, the Kohler Experiential Learning Center provided our team with an opportunity to achieve our goals:

  • Team Building
  • Stress Relief
  • Fun
  • Physically and Intellectually challenging
  • Something out of the ordinary
  • Integrate new members of the team

The GE Healthcare program was created with a good deal of competitiveness sprinkled with personalization, which perfectly suited our highly competitive team!

The unusual:

  • Horse-grooming and chocolate making, combined with the fun
  • Yoga poses and outdoor sculpture searches forced the team to get outside
  • Mixing cocktails and singing karaoke allowed everyone on a team to shine in one way or another
  • A well balanced, well thought out event, resulted in a tremendous success

GE Healthcare got great feedback from globally savvy Executives who have “seen it all and done it all.” Comments such as, "who knew I would ever groom a horse" and "... we couldn't predict what was coming next" shows how the program achieved, and indeed surpassed, our goals!

Affordable expertise close to home...We were looking for a quality team-building, innovative marketing program and to have some fun. Found it with the Kohler Experiential Learning Center. Knowing the quality of Kohler from the many contacts in the past, I thought this would be another quality program. It wasn't - it was a Kohler quality program...AWESOME. I've since shared the Kohler experience with other businesses I've come in contact with and plan to share with our entire organization. With Team Vino...we not only had the creative juices flowing, we developed a program that we can bring back to share the experience. Thanks to the facilitators for developing this and helping us to bring it back to extending the reach of the program. Another 5 star program for Kohler!

First of all I would like to say that I am a straight to the point non-sugarcoating kind of person. When I became the new Supervisor of the lab and found out that I had to go to the Kohler Experiential Learning Center for some team building, I thought great, I will be sitting around the fire pit waiting for all of my new employees to roast me and afterwards we will all be singing kumbayah. Boy was I wrong!

I was the new guy trying to fit into their world so it was a little uncomfortable, but after a few small exercises about what you have in common with the other person, things seemed to relax a bit.

I will have to say I was impressed with the way things flowed. It made me want to participate because the only other option was to sit quietly and watch the others have fun. The icing on the cake was when it was time to come up with a menu, hand out assignments and cook a meal. The Navy Chief in me jumped out to start barking out orders and to tell them they were doing things all wrong. Then I realized that just because it wasn't my way does not mean it was wrong. I have to admit there were times I wanted to just say, “let me do the (cooking) (prepping) (staging)" I think you get the picture. Instead I just stepped back and helped where help was needed. The food was great, everything from serving to cleaning up got done, everyone enjoyed themselves, and I learned that I do not have to be in charge of everything for everything to get done and it does not always have to be my way to be right.

That trust between the group has increased to a point that just the other day one of my guys came up to me and said he showed up for work 15 minutes late and then told me he planned to be staying 15 minutes later to make up for it...... I call that trust. I enjoyed myself at the KELC very much and learned a few things about myself and those working with me. I believe it was the cornerstone to the team that I am apart of today.

Thank You Very Much

Our Foundational Leadership team development session at Kohler's Experiential Learning Center was an incredible experience! Sarah Scala, Senior Training Specialist energized everyone with inclusive activities that were thought-provoking and challenging, yet high-risk avoidant. Individuals felt comfortable sharing and working together on creative and unique activities, designed specifically around our company's leadership competencies.

The FIRO-B™ assessment tool was also incorporated into our program; helping each of us increase our awareness of how our actions shape the relationships we have with others as well as our own individual effectiveness. Overall, this experience was very powerful for our group and will continue to be part of our 18-month leadership development program for years to come.
